Motivation to Lose Weight

Motivation to lose weight can be for any number of reasons. Whatever your motivation is, it helps to have a positive attitude because when you believe in yourself, the more successful you will be at reaching your weight loss goals.

Motivation to Lose WeightResearch has shown the mind body connection to be very real. In other words, the motivation to lose weight could all be in your head!

Visible progress is key to staying motivated.

If you are having trouble sticking with your weight loss goals, consider charting your progress. A study at Virginia Tech University found that seeing a visual representation of your weight loss encouraged study subjects to put more effort into reaching their goals.

Try these three easy tips to provide the inspiration you need to lose weight and feel great!

1. Visualize Your Success

  • Take a few moments to close your eyes, and visualize yourself looking slim, fit and strong.
  • When you have a clear vision of your goals, you are more likely to be successful.
  • If your goal is to lose weight and get in shape, then buy yourself a new dress in your desired dress size and visualize yourself wearing that dress.
  • Every time you visualize your success, you are more likely to reach your goals.
  • According to a nationwide survey, 82 percent of women say that when they picture their body slimmer, it provides enough inspiration to get to the gym and workout.
  • So the next time you need some motivation, imagine yourself with the best bikini body ever.
When you believe in yourself, great things can happen!

2. Retrain Your Brain

  • The power of positive thinking can help you reach your goals.
  • Whenever a negative thought enters your mind, push it aside. Think about one positive thing you did that day to reach your goals.
  • Positive thoughts are good for a healthy mind and body.
  • When you think positive thoughts it helps to focus and stay on target with your daily goals which help you reach your long term goals.
  • Visualize a healthy lifestyle that includes mindful eating which helps you focus on the flavor and the smell of your food so that you get more enjoyment from your meals and learn to eat less to feel satisfied.
  • If you see physical activity as an integral part of your daily lifestyle, you will be more likely to engage in regular exercise.

  • According to a study in the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity, if you identify yourself as being physically fit, you will be more motivated to work out as compared with someone who does not consider themself to be physically fit.
  • Remind yourself that the progress you are making each day is already proof that you can be as fit as anyone else.
If you retrain your brain one day at a time, soon the new way of thinking will become second nature.

3. Believe In Yourself

  • Be grateful every day for who you are and take note of what you love about yourself.
  • If you can only find one thing to love that day (maybe it's your hair or your hands, etc), then say "I love myself, especially my hair."
  • It is easy to think about all the negative things in life but that negative energy will undermine your ability to reach your goals.
  • Change your focus by thinking about what you love about yourself and you will be more empowered with the motivation to lose weight.
  • Start by saying "I love my beautiful, strong body!"
  • Repeat the following positive thoughts to yourself every day:

        - I can be fit and trim.

        - I can have a sexy body.

        - I can get flat abs.

        - I will lose the extra weight.

        - I am strong and beautiful.

Be inspired by those who have a healthy body.
If they can do it, so can you!
